Who is eligible for MSH Canuck Voyage?

All requirements must be satisfied on the effective date. Do not assume a quote guarantees eligibility or coverage.

Be a Canadian resident covered by a provincial or territorial government health insurance plan for the entire trip.

Purchase coverage for the entire trip, except where the policy permits qualifying top-up coverage.

Be at least 15 days old and less than 80 years old on the effective date.

Do not travel against a physician’s advice and do not travel to obtain medical treatment.

Have no terminal illness, new or undiagnosed symptoms, or known reason to seek medical attention.

Have not used or been prescribed home oxygen during the 12 months before the effective date.

Additional requirements for ages 60–79

  • The trip must generally be no longer than 35 days.
  • No diagnosis of congestive heart failure.
  • No diagnosed unrepaired aneurysm of 4.5 cm or more.
  • No need for help with activities of daily living such as dressing, bathing, eating, toileting or getting in or out of bed or a chair.

Refund eligibility depends on timing, plan type, travel status and whether a claim has occurred.

Full refund situations

  • Cancellation within 10 days of receiving the contract, provided you have not departed and no claim has been or will be made.
  • A written cancellation request received by the broker or sales agent before the effective date.

Early-return partial refund

  • May be available when no claim occurred and the policy is terminated because all insured travellers returned early together.
  • A $25 administration fee applies to partial refunds.
  • Requests generally must be made in writing within 60 days after policy expiry with satisfactory proof of return.
