Pre-existing conditions and medical history
- Eligible applicants up to age 70 require 90 days of stability.
- Applicants age 71–80 require 180 days of stability.
- All pre-existing medical conditions are excluded after age 80.
- Hospitalization, diagnosis, treatment changes, medication changes, worsening symptoms, referral or pending investigations can affect stability.

What if health changes before coverage begins?

Waiting period and stability guidance
- A 48-hour sickness waiting period applies to the younger age band when purchased after arrival.
- A five-day sickness waiting period applies to the older age band stated in the policy.
- The policy wording overlaps at exactly age 70; confirm the applicable waiting period before issue.
- A qualifying continuous policy may waive the waiting period.
Monthly-payment information
- The initial monthly-plan payment equals the first month’s premium plus the last month’s premium plus a CAD $90 setup fee.
- Remaining premiums are collected according to the issued schedule.
- The monthly option changes the payment method only; it does not change benefits, stability, waiting periods or exclusions.
- Refund treatment of the CAD $90 setup fee must be confirmed from the current monthly-payment agreement.
Claims and emergency assistance
- Contact Intrepid 24/7 immediately when symptoms or an emergency appear.
- Call within 24 hours after hospital admission.
- Obtain approval before surgery or services requiring prior approval.
- Submit itemized bills, receipts, medical records and proof of travel.
Refunds and administration fees
- A full refund may be available before the effective date.
- A Super Visa denial refund requires satisfactory proof; otherwise a CAD $250 cancellation fee may apply.
- An eligible early-return or government-plan refund is prorated and generally subject to a CAD $25 administration fee.
- No refund is considered after a claim has been paid or while a claim remains pending.
- No refund is issued when the amount is less than CAD $20.

- Unstable or age-excluded pre-existing conditions
- All pre-existing conditions after age 80
- Non-emergency, routine, elective or cosmetic treatment
- Treatment in the country of origin
- Ongoing treatment after the emergency ends
